About

Valium contains the active ingredient diazepam and is used for the treatment of anxiety disorders, muscle spasms, seizures and to control agitation caused by alcohol withdrawal.

It belongs to a class of drugs known as benzodiazepines. Valium can be used to control involuntary movement of the hands, and to relax tight aching muscles. Along with other medications, Valium can be used to treat convulsive disorders such as epilepsy as well.

Generic Valium tablets are supplied by us in strength of 5 mg and 10 mg sourced from reputed manufacturers worldwide. Branded Valium is available in strength of 5 mg and 10 mg manufactured by Roche

Usage

Take Valium exactly as per your doctor directions and the tablets are to be taken with a full glass of water. The recommended dose of Valium for people with anxiety is 2 to 10 mg two to four times daily. Valium can be taken with or without food.

If Valium is stopped suddenly abruptly it may cause withdrawal problems. So ask your doctor to recommend a gradual dose reduction In case you wish to stop taking Valium.

Never take 2 doses of Valium at the same time in case you have missed a prior dose. Valium should not be used on children below 6 months.

Valium is contraindicated (not to be used) for persons allergic to diazepam and those who are psychotic have severe liver disease or have glaucoma.

Caution: Valium comes under US FDA Pregnancy Category D and therefore should not be used by pregnant women and nursing mothers.

Caution: Valium overdose may be fatal and so stick to the dose advised by your doctor.

Side Effects

Most common side effects with Valium are muscle weakness, fatigue and gastro-intestinal disturbances. If these symptoms don’t go away and tend to persist consult your doctor.

Precaution

Valium is habit forming so prolonged use of the medication is not advisable.

Don’t drink alcohol while on Valium medication

Before being prescribed with Valium inform your doctor if you have any of the following illnesses namely, epilepsy, kidney disease or liver disease, psychiatric problems, substance addiction, glaucoma and asthma. Because if you have any of the above cited illnesses then usage of Valium must be with utmost caution.

You may be prone to accidental injury while on Valium and therefore care should be taken while driving vehicle or operating machinery.

Valium may cause you to become drowsy or less alert so avoid driving and working on machinery after taking a dose of Valium.
